The main page of my blog is for general announcements relating to all classes. For your assignments, you need to follow the links on the left to either Math 7 or Math 7/8.

Math 7/8 Week of January 30th:

Monday, January 30:

Math 7/8 Week of 1/23

Monday, January 23:

• discussion and notes on relations, functions, linear and nonlinear.  You should be able to identify these using: equations, mapping, t-tables, graphs
• Performance Task - Marathon Runner
• HW:  red workbook page 26

Tuesday, January 24:

• check homework

• Complete “Am I a Function?” – (4^th page in packet).  You need to write yes or no and why for each one.  We went over this as a class when finished.
• Complete “Practice 172” – Create a t-table with 4 values for each one and then graph them. USE A RULER!
• When finished complete “4.8 Application Lesson Opener” – on back of Practice 172.
• HW:  3-4 Practice B and Practice C (1^st page in packet).  It looks similar to the sheet you did in class yesterday, but the problems are different!

Wednesday, January 25:

• We spent the class checking the packet and discussing functions.  You should start seeing patterns for graphs that are linear, quadratic (parabola) and absolute value
• Function Diagrams - identify functions from graphs, tables, mapping, ordered pairs, equations

On Level Math 7 - Week of 1/23

Monday, January 23:

• test corrections - these were completed in class with my help.  Get them signed by your parents.  Your test grade should be written at the top of this paper BEFORE the parents sign it.
• discuss on what makes two figures congruent
• notes on corresponding sides and angles of congruent figures
• HW:  "Congruent Figures" and "Same As" Versatiles sheets

Tuesday, January 24:

• check and discuss homework
• Warmup:  pig/sunburn worksheet
• Review integer operations - make sure you don't forget how to add and subtract negative numbers!
• Review common conversions - you should be memorizing the sheet I gave you for converting between fractions, decimals and percents.  There will be a quiz on Friday!
• notes on finding the measure of corresponding sides and angles of congruent figures

Monday, January 23:

• Notes on similar and congruent figures.  Make sure that you know the proper notation for: angles, sides (line segments), congrency and similarity.  You should be able to denote corresponding sides and angles using this notation.
• Discuss wortext page 171 and look for patterns.
• Complete practice on notations - "Pig/Sunburn" worksheet
• HW:  "Nine Lives"

Tuesday, January 24:

• warmup:  5.6 study guide and practice (set up and begin)
• notes on how to prove similarity and congruency
• notes on how to find the missing side or angle measurements

Thursday, January 26:

 Today students learned how to use indirect measurement.

Math 7 Week of 1/10/12 (onlevel and advanced content)

Starting on January 10th, I will teach both and AC Math 7 and an OL Math 7 class.  Please make sure you pay attention so that you do the correct assignments.

 

Tuesday, January 10:

• AC:  Learn and practice constructions - pages 295-296 in worktext workbook will help

Wednesday, January 11:

• ALL Students:  complete the first three constructions - copy a line segment, bisect a line segment and bisect an angle.  You can use the construction links to the right to help you. 
• HW:  8-10 practice C

Thursday, January 12:

• AC:  worked in groups to complete the final three constructions
• AC:  worked on review for next week's test - remember that you must be able to identify each construction by name, perform all six constructions, put the steps in order and name the first step.
• Onlevel:  worked with teacher to practice and complete constructions
• HW:  Onlevel - use the websites to the right to help you memorize how to do the constructions
• HW AC:  finish the test review if not completed in class

Friday, January 13th:

• We took notes and practices the relationships between scale factor, side ratio, area ratio and perimeter ratio. 
• Students completed Scale Factor Practice with Triangles in class
• Students completed a formative assessment on ratios
• HW:  Changing Shapes performance task
• Review computation skills to get ready for tomorrow's computation challenge!

Tuesday, December 20:

• check homework
• Formative assessments from yesterday were returned so that students could see what they missed
• complete textbook pages 246-247, #7-14
• complete formative assessment over ratio of sides, area and perimeter
• HW:  Versatiles over ratios and gather all missing assignments (list given in class).  Wednesday is the LAST day assignments will be accepted unless you have been out ill then I will make arrangements with you personally.

Wednesday, December 21:

• We checked hw using Versatiles.
• Students turned in all missing assignments that were listed on the sheet given out yesterday.
• Students were movie critics - they found out how difficult it is to make an informational AND  interesting math movie!
• HW:  none :-)  Bring in tape or paper for tomorrow if you wish.

Monday, December 19:

• We took notes and practiced rotations today
• HW:  10-9 Rotations
• Start studying now for Wednesday's quiz!  Study your vocabulary in addition to practicing translations, reflections and rotations

• hw:  study for quiz!
• Topics on quiz:  be able to identify and perform - translations, rotations, reflections
• know all the vocabulary such as perpendicular, parallel, bisect, etc...
