Almost there..........

We're rapidly moving toward the end of the year and spring fever is in full bloom. Students are getting a bit distracted by the impending warm weather, and socialization has become a major focus for them. I encourage everyone to remember, we're not done yet, and to stay focused on learning while we are at school. We still have a bit to do to get us to the end of the year.

Looking ahead, we will be performing some lab experiments to extend our knowledge and understanding of various concepts we have learned this year. Thank you to all families for the tremendous and generous support you have provided. It has been a great year, and it's not over yet!

It's good to be back!

Thank you so much for your kind thoughts and wishes during my absence. I'm happy to report that all went exactly as planned, and I'm well on my way to getting back to my normal routines. Thank you for your patience during my absence. I know it is difficult to get used to someone new right in the middle of the year, and right when you've just figured out my routines and expectations. I truly appreciate all of your support during this time.

Please begin to check the blog in the specific subject areas again. I will post to math and science as done previously, so you don't have to weed through information that is unnecessary for you.

I explained to the students that we are going back to my policies, expectations and routines, all the way down to their previous assigned seats! Homework will be collected approximately once a week and will be graded for accuracy, not just completion.

Please continue to check your child's agenda for homework assignments. Expect homework daily in Math, and frequently in Science.

The kids have done well making the transition back to my instructional techniques. I hope that you have also heard positive remarks about the transition as well.

Thanks again for your efforts to make this a great year!

The New Year!

We have made it halfway through the school year and the students have truly grown to be very responsible learners. I have been very pleased with their efforts and success thus far. As we begin the next half of our year, our class will experience several changes. The first change is a change in our schedule, we will have connections at the beginning of the school day. The students are very excited to start their day in the connections areas. Secondly, they will have a supply teacher for the first 5 weeks of the new year. I will be having surgery over winter break which requires a four to six week recovery period. I plan to return on Wednesday, February 11th and resume my classes. The supply teacher is very eager to get started, especially after meeting the students and seeing how exciting our classes are. I hope that you will give Mrs. Brown your support during this time. I know she will take excellent care of your children.

Please continue to check the blog for class information and homework.

Thanksgiving Break

I hope everyone enjoys the few days off and returns to school rested and ready to finish out this grading period. Students have no homework over the break!!

Please know that the Cobb County Internet service will not be available over the break. This means Teachers, students,  and parents  will not have access to their I-parent accounts. Cobb County email services will not be accessible either. Thanks for your understanding while they upgrade our systems.

Happy Thanksgiving!!

Welcome to 6th Grade!

Welcome to Hightower Trail sixth grade! I am looking forward to meeting all of you and getting started on the great concepts we have ahead of us. Remember to always bring your agenda to class, and the other required materials. We will go over our organization strateiges and classroom expectations during the first few days. Remember I teach both math and science and you must click on the subject area that you are looking for. I'm so happy to have you in class and can't wait to get started. We have so much to do, so rest up and be ready to roll!!
