HOW TO ACCESS THE ONLINE BOOK (Language Arts)

If you need to refer to the literature book, go to classzone.com, and choose middle school, Georgia, and then GO.  Indicate that you want to access the online book (near the bottom of the screen).  Use 3532040-30 as your activation code.  It will then ask you to create a student account by filling in the blanks.  Set up your own student account to use throughout the year.

Thursday/Friday 1/26-1/27

SS- Today we began chapter 7 with a discussion about manifest destiny.  Friday we will watch a video on the causes/outcome of the Civil War.  HWK:  Chapter 7 vocab is due on Monday as is the chart on the "social ladder" of the south.

LA - Today we finished ActI/Scene 3 in DOAF.  Friday we will have a reading day to get caught up with our parallel novels.  HWK:  Quiz Monday over the first third of each book.

Wednesday 1/25

SS - Today we took our chapter 6 test. No homework

LA - Today we read Act I/Scenes 1/2 and part of 3.  We will finish 3 tomorrow.  We also did our first journal entry.  HWK:  Read your parallel novel and be ready for Monday's quiz.

Thursday/Friday 1/19 and 1/20

SS - Today we took notes on the Indian Removal.  Tomorrow is a video on the "Trail of Tears."  HWK:  Chapter 6 guided reading is due on Monday.  TEST on chapter 6 is next Wednesday Download Chapter 6 Study Guide

LA - Today we took the county formative assessment.  Tomorrow we will watch "I'm Still Here."  HWK:  The notecards/poster with your 1/5/10 year goal paragraphs are due on Monday.

Tuesday 1/17

SS - Today we reviewed land use policies in antebellum GA and also indian removal policies in GA.  HWK:  Finish the letter to the president from the Cherokee tribe member and answer the questions at the end of the packet.

LA - Today we made a review card for our final prep for tomorrow's writing test. HWK:  Finish your card (instructions are at the top of my blog) and get a good night's sleep for tomorrow.

Thursday 1/12

SS - Today we did a think/pair/share activity on the Industrial Revolution HWK:  Finish the packet if you didn't finish in class

LA - Today we reviewed sample writing assessments from last year's writing test and we graded them.  HWK:  Give your role model essay a grade based on today's rubric.  QUIZ tomorrow on the Writing Assessment notes we took on Tuesday.

SS - Today we watched two videos on slavery and the cotton gin and answered questions on each video. HWK:  Finish your Chapter Survey sheet from yesterday

LA - Today we talked about using transitions in our writing.  HWK:  Using the lists of transitions provided, add transitions to your "role model" essay.  Quiz Friday on Writing Assessment power point.

SS - Today we worked on our Georgia politician power points which are due Monday.  HWK:  Study for the executive branch quiz on Monday.  Finish your power point.

LA - Today we reviewed for Monday's "Animal Farm" test.  HWK:  Prepare for the essay question below.

ESSAY (20 points):  Write a thorough response to the following question.

Compare and contrast the two original leaders of Animal Farm, Napoleon and Snowball, in terms of 1) beliefs, 2) goals, and 3) personal style.  Make sure to RESTATE the question and use SPECIFIC examples from the book.
