Fall 2011 - Requirements - 940 pages total for the quarter:
DUE DATES: 9/14 for 420 pages and 10/12 for 940 pages - see details
1. The READING LOG will have two grades - one for the paragraph reflection and one for the number of pages.
- Reflections are PARAGRAPHS that connect anything from your reading to yourself (a relationship, a like/dislike, a learning experience, etc...), another book that you've read, or something in the world. (Connections to the world can be anything as small as our classroom to as big as the world including anything historical.)
- Reflections are required for any reading that you want to count toward your goal.
-- 4 1/2 week goal - 420 pages. In addition, you must include a reflection for The Breadwinner.
-- 9 week goal - 940 pages. All of your reading for the quarter.
- NUMBER OF PAGES - List your book with the TITLE UNDERLINED and the number of pages. If you took an AR test, include your grade. (The pages that you read for The Breadwinner do NOT count toward the 940 goal. Why??? You read this last summer.) You must have a paragraph reflection for each entry or the number of pages will not be counted.
- END OF THE QUARTER Goal - 940 pages TOTAL. Due 10/12
2. AR Tests:
Goal - 3 tests.
- The Breadwinner - You must take an AR test on this summer reading book. We have reviewed it in class and worked with narrative concepts like plot and characterization. This was part of your summer reading requirement.
- Two (2) personal chapter books read during the FALL quarter of this school year. One (1) book is required on 9/14 (in time for progress reports). One (1) more book is required by 10/12 (in time for report cards).
