*** We will begin reading The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton. You may pre-order this book at the Husky Hut or buy it at any used bookstore in the area. I have a class set, but it is always a good idea to have your own copy of the book if possible! Have purchased by Tuesday, Feb. 21st.

- Monday 2/6 - Continue researching your chosen person. 10 note cards due. Mini-lesson - how to develop a working thesis. Working thesis scaffold: Download Thesis Statement.1
- Tuesday, 2/7 - Create and/or finish your notes cards. You must have the following for a checkpoint grade tomorrow: 2 or 3 cards on "Problems/Difficulties" & "How Overcome"/2 cards on "Achievements." Create an outline (mini-lesson in class). HW - Finish classwork from today.
- Wednesday, 2/8 - Begin rough draft. Download HOOK ME . Mann Download Essay Builder - Instructions.Mann
- Thursday, 2/9 - Finish rough draft and begin typing rough draft. HW: Finish writing the rough draft. No typing at home. This essay will be typed in school only.
- Friday, 2/10 - Revise/edit/publish. Essay Due at the end of class. My classes have had two extra lab days. HW - If you needed extra time, your essay is due at the beginning of class on Monday, February 13, 2012. This is a gift! Late Penalty applies after this date - one letter grade for each day late. This is a test grade.

- Monday, 2/6 - Research your chosen topic. Meet with me to receive approval for your questions. Go to Cobb Virtual Library and find an article on your topic. Create a source card/begin a "Works Cited" page (template under "Social Studies" Resources. Create note cards to begin answering one of your questions.
- Tuesday, 2/7 - Continue researching your questions. Continue building source/note cards & your "Works Cited" page. While you are researching your questions, begin saving images for your PowerPoint, if you find something that supports your topic. HW/Checkpoint: Due on Wednesday - 2 source cards/8-10 note cards.
- Wednesday, 2/8 - Research - Book Cart day
- Thursday, 2/9 - Research - Media Center. HW: minimum 30 bullet Points due on Friday!!!
- Friday - 2/10 - Checkpoint grade: 30 bullet points. Works cited page update. Continue research in 7th grade computer lab.
