Tuesday, 2/21 - Warm-up - Corrections to C.A.R.S Lesson 2. Analyze your answers. On a separate sheet of paper, write your original answer with a one sentence explanation of why it was wrong, and then write the correct answer including an explanation of your reasoning. All students will participate regardless of grade. Finished? Complete notes/exercises from Grammar for Writing pages 125-133 on Adjectives & read/write a paragraph summary from the Scholastic magazine. The article is your choice. The Outsiders - Welcome to the 60s! Music, commercials, movie clips, slang. Discuss the 1950s and 1960s to set the stage for our novel.

Wednesday, 2/22 - Warm-up - Finish Grammar for Writing notes & exercises - Adjectives chapter. Complete for HW. Writer's Notebook: Download Writing Prompt - Day 1 Share responses. The Outsiders anticipation guides - whole group activity. Begin reading chapter 1.

Thursday 2/23 - Turn in Adjective notes/exercises. Writer's NB - "Conformity." Clean out writing folders & create an Outsiders folder. Read and respond. Download Characterization Packet - The Outsiders . Read Chapter 1 and begin characterization notes on the characters. Use the grid graphic organizer.

Friday, 2/24 - Read and finish Chapter 1 & 2 - character notes on the graphic organizer. Assign groups & character for analysis activity. Begin analyzing Ch 1 & 2 for textual evidence for your assigned character. Use the packet (see Thursday, 2/23). MiniLesson on collecting evidence from the text.
