Agenda for the Week: What are the steps I need to take when researching a topic and how can I use them to create a research essay?
- Monday - 1/30 - Warm Up - "Grammar Guru." Turn in individually assigned Reading lessons. Turn in the research topic sheet with your top three (3) choices. Research Process Pre-Test. Media Center visit - check out books/AR tests.
- Tuesday - 1/31 - Warm Up - "Grammar Guru" - Download Grammar Guru Sentences.Mann Orange: Media Center to check out a book for the research project. Red Class: Create a t-chart on your topic: What do I know?/What do I want to learn? Refer to page 465 of The Reader's Journey and compose 5 questions using the question stems to help guide your research. Review source/notecard format. Make a folder to keep all of your papers/notecards.
- Wednesday -2/1 - Grammar Guru warm-up. Orange class: Create a t-chart on your topic: What do I know?/What do I want to learn? Refer to page 465 of The Reader's Journey and compose 5 questions using the question stems to help guide your research. Review source/notecard format. Make a folder to keep all of your papers/notecards. MEDIA CENTER/COMPUTER LAB to begin researching tomorrow. GO TO "Language Arts Resources" for links and downloadable resources.
- Thursday - 2/2 - Grammar Guru warm-up/study guide. Media Center - Research topic, finish creating source cards (3 minimum - book, Cobb Virtual Library, and internet source - CREDIBLE) & create note cards. HW - AR/log due on 2/3. Study for the QUIZ - Grammar Guru. Review: Parts of Speech Download Grammar Guru Sentences.Mann Download GRAMMAR GURU Practice w. ans Sentence Sort Game Sentence Structures RESEARCH - 3 Sources cards due on Friday.
- Friday 2/3 - Help session at 8:25 a.m. for the QUIZ over Grammar Guru sentences. Computer lab to research and create note cards. HW: Finish completing a minimum of 10 note cards.

- Wednesday - 2/1 - Review activity for Africa Unit II Test Blue class with receive a copy of the research project topics.
- Thursday - 2/2 - Africa Unit II Test, clean out binder & file. Keep all materials regarding economics (flip chart) and government (graphic organizer from ME unit & VOCAB packet page). Begin political/physical map of Asia.
- Friday - 2/3 - Begin Asia Unit I. Work on your political and physical maps. Choose research topics. Begin to narrow topic by creating a list of at least five (5) guiding questions to direct your research. Your questions must be open-ended which means that they must need an essay to answer them. See examples: Download Asia Research Project Questions filled in All research related items will be filled under "Social Studies Resources."
