Welcome to Sixth Grade!

Welcome to Hightower Trail Sixth Graders!  I will be working with all of sixth grade this year as well students in seventh grade with the last name A-L.  I am looking forward to getting to know each of you and your families.  I will be working with you in a variety of ways including classroom guidance lessons, small groups, on an individual basis, and through special programs.  I hope that you have a wonderful year at Hightower!  If there is something that you need please find me in the Counseling Office or let your teacher know that you need to see the counselor.

Rising 6th Grade Parent Night

ATTENTION PARENTS OF RISING SIXTH GRADE STUDENTS...Please join us for an informational parent night on February 26, 2012 at 6:45 in the Hightower theater.  This session is for parents only and will include topics such as scheduling, class offerings, clubs, and middle school procedures.  There will be a panel of teachers, parents, and students that will available to answer questions.

Small Counseling Groups

Each school year I offer a variety of small counseling groups.  The students had an opportunity to sign up for groups recently.  If your child expressed an interest in participating in a small counseling group he/she will be bringing home a permission form for a parent/guardian to sign.  Please feel free to contact me if you would like specific information about the topics covered.

Rachel's Challenge

Rising 6th Grade Parent Night

Rising 6th grade parent night is scheduled for Tuesday, February 21st at 6:45 in the Hightower Trail Middle School Theater.  Please join us that evening to learn more about Hightower Trail and the middle school experience.  I have attached the full transition calendar for this school year.  Please feel free to contact me with any questions!

Rachel's Challenge Comes to Hightower October 17, 2011

Rachel Scott was the first person killed in a school shooting at Columbine High School on April 20, 1999. Her acts of kindness and compassion coupled with the contents of her six diaries have become the foundation for "Rachel's Challenge", one of the most  poignant school programs designed to reduce aggression and bullying while education students around themes of compassion, tolerance acceptance.  On October 17th, Hightower Trail students and community members will have the opportunity to experience the atmosphere, unity, and inspiration created by "Rachel's Challenge" due to a generous grant by the HTMS PTSA.  The PTSA and School Counseling Department of Hightower have arranged for "Rachel's Challenge" staff to deliver an intense 1 hour school program to students and staff on October 17th.  The presentation will be followed by a separate interactive 90 minute training session involving both adult and student leaders that shows how to sustain the momentum created by the assembly.  "Rachel's Challenge" is a nationally renowned bullying prevention assembly which promises to deliver a message you won't want to miss!

 The student assemblies are scheduled for 9:30 and 11:00. Please join us for the Community Event that evening at 7:00 pm in the HIghotwer Theater.
