We have finished our last theme of the year, Theme 8 on "La Comida".  Following is a schedule of quizzes, tests, oral assessments and final exams:

miercoles, 6 de mayo: Quiz on restaurant script between waiter and customer.  Know all the expressions necessary to complete different conversations heard in a restaurant.  Also know vocab for items in a place setting.

viernes, 8 de mayo:  Oral Performance Assessment.  Be ready to record your skit . It must be memorized in Spanish.

martes, 12 de mayo:  Theme 8 Test

Today we started Theme 8, "La Comida".  Review the foods and beverages that we went over today in class on the first page of your vocab list, both front and back.  Download 7 vocab list  You will have a quiz on all the foods and beverages this Friday, April 17.

TAREA:  Write a list of ingredients (in Spanish) that you need in order to make the following: a pizza, a quiche, vegetable soup, a Big Mac, a chef salad.

This week we are ending Theme 7, "Invitations and Making Plans":

QUIZ on Tuesday 3/31 on the reflexive verbs, ser & estar, and stem-changing verbs "poder," "almorzar," and "jugar."

If you were absent week of March 16-20

In addition to spending most of the week on accepting and declining invitations, we also covered expressions used with the verb "tener."  Remember, "tener" is a stem-changing verb (tengo, tienes, tiene, tenemos, tienen).  These include: tener prisa (to be in a hurry), tener sueno (to be sleepy), tener que (to have to), and tener ganas de (to feel like doing something).

We are approaching the end of Theme 6, "Going Shopping".  Students were given their Performance Assessment project on Friday, to be recorded on Monday and/or Tuesday.  We will review for the Theme 6 Test on Wednesday.

This week we have been practicing using shopping terms in during role plays, in written and spoken form.  We have covered everything on our vocab list up to Theme 6.c.  If you have been absent, please be sure to get the notes from a classmate on the vocab and on demonstrative adjectives (this, that, these, those) stem-changing verbs. 

QUIZ: Thursday 2/26 on shopping terms, demonstrative adjectives, and numbers 1-1,000,000.

No homewok has been assigned this week.

This week we are starting Theme 6, "Vamos de Compras" - ("Let's Go Shopping").  On Monday we began with clothing and gift items.  We will then begin to cover many adjectives, such as colors, materials, and patterns of clothing or other items.

IT IS VERY VERY IMPORTANT THAT YOU STUDY YOUR FLASHCARDS A FEW TIMES EVERY NIGHT!!!!!

For this theme, flashcards are mandatory because we have so much new vocabulary.  For the Oral Project that you will have in 4 weeks, you WILL NOT BE ABLE TO WRITE OUT YOUR SKIT.  So start getting familiar with what you need to say NOW!

TAREA: 

lunes:  Complete handout given in class, and make flashcards for "Gift items and Clothing".  Study  your flashcards.

martes:  Complete handout given in class.  You will need to complete the sentences of what you would wear for various occasions with your clothing preferences.  Study your flashcards.

miercoles: Draw and color what Mario is wearing.  Be able to describe him so that a partner can draw the same clothing.

febrero 2-6

This week we are working on the Oral Projects for Theme 5.  If you have not recorded your skits by Thursday morning before homeroom, you will need to present during class.

THEME 5 TEST ON FRIDAY, 2/6.  Make flashcards of all the Theme 5 Vocab  that you have difficulty remembering, especially weather conditions and season.  There will be NO WORD BANKS on the test!

lunes - viernes, el 26-30 de enero

This week we are learning how to describe the weather, the seasons, months and dates, and apply them to describing future plans. 

TAREA: Mon/Tues:  In spanish (of course!) write the following: for each of the four seasons, list the 3 months, 2 weather conditions, 2 seasonal activities, and 2  unseasonal activities.

Wed/Thurs: Write a complete weather report (including temperatures) for Atlanta, Houston,  Minneapolis, and Los Angeles.  Include 3 weather conditions for each city.
