End of the year Project

We are wrapping up the year and our Entrepreneur Project.  We will have a short quiz tomorrow over 2-step Equations and then spend the rest of the class watching and finishing up commercials.  If you are unable to video your commercial in or outside of school, you may perform it live.   They must be absolutely finished by Wednesday as we don't have class Thursday and I would like to be able to have them watched and graded so we can enjoy the last day of school signing yearbooks!

Remember, the years not over yet...4 days left, let's finish of strong!!!

Wednesday April 29th

Today we review the integer rules and practiced some complex integer problems involving multiple operations and steps.  We also were to work on our Business ideas if we did not finish yesterday.

At this point, everyone should have their business idea, company name, 5-6 sentence description, slogan, and logo on graph paper.  I have attached the directions for the first part of the business project.  We will continue to work on this over the next few weeks while reviewing and building on information we have covered this year in preparation for 8th grade.

Today we reviewed the translations and rotations of 2-D to make 3-D figures and talked about the characteristics of them.  We also began looking at cross-sections and where we see them in our everyday life.  We will continue to explore cross sections of 3-D figures and the many 2_d figures we can make by cutting a 3-D figure in various ways.

HW:  "Describing Cross Sections" wksht.  This wksht also has notes on the back that define cross sections and give examples of how to find them.

Today we worked on a test review packet.  This packet will be a great study guide for Thursday's test.  There will be a review session Thursday morning at 8:15 in my room.  Mrs. Mullaney will also be conducting a session Wednesday at 8:15.

Homework:  Finish Review packet

Friday Feb. 6th

Today we went over yesterdays quiz and discussed some practice problems.  The grades on the quiz were quite low so the kids were given there quizzes to take home and to be signed in order to have an opportunity to re-take it on Monday.  They must also show some sort of evidence of preparation for the new quiz.  The exception is blue and red class in which only those who completed there homework will be allowed to retake the quiz.  However, they still must have the quiz signed and will re-take it on Monday, just not for a replacement grade.

I am attaching some sample problems, as well as a couple powerpoints that review the rules and concepts from the unit.
