French = Download Theme3QuestionsReponsesReviewFRENCH0910

IN CLASS: We started off with a Listening Comprehension Activity. If you were absent, you cannot HEAR the questions, but try "View Show" with the powerpoints below. For each question that pops up, choose the correct answer then click to see if your answer was correct. NEXT, we played a fun conjugation "Game Cube" game by tossing our verb cubes in the air with a partner to create complete sentences.

Monday 11/2

HOMEWORK: See Mr. Blankenship (you must use a sheet that has a pattern on it to create a "game cube" with -AR / -ER Verbs or subjects on it.

IN CLASS: We continued our practice of -AR Verbs (Spanish) or -ER Verbs (French).  We corrected the homework in class. Students worked on a partner activity in which they interviewed someone about what activity they do and at what time. Students had some time in class to work on "game cube" homework.

FRIDAY 10/30

HOMEWORK: More Practice with -ER Verbs (French) / -AR Verbs (Spanish)

Spanish = Download Theme3MoreARVerbPractice0910

French = Download Theme3MoreERVerbPractice0910

IN CLASS: We again practiced how to use -ER Verbs (French) and -AR Verbs (Spanish) in the Present Tense. We corrected our homework. We played a fun activity called SURVIVOR in which students held cards with various parts of a sentence to stand in order at the front of the room to create complete sentences.

THURSDAY 10/29

Homework: Correct last night's homework after today's more detailed lesson on using -ER Verbs (French) and -AR Verbs (Spanish). In other words, the HW deadline was extended to make sure it is accurate.

IN CLASS: Today we had much more time to discuss and understand Present Tense CONJUGATION (subject-verb agreement) of a large family of verbs: -ER Verbs (French) and -AR Verbs (Spanish). We did lots of examples on the powerpoint (see yesterday's post) and in class.

IN CLASS: We did a quick TELLING TIME Review, and then took Theme 3.c Quiz (Telling Time). After the quiz, we had time to introduce a very valuable concept: How to use -ER Verbs (French) and -AR Verbs (Spanish) in the Present Tense.

This is basically the difference between saying "I like to swim." and just saying "I SWIM."

Read through the PowerPoint below, which we will review in more detail tomorrow.

HOMEWORK: Study for TELLING TIME Quiz Tomorrow!

IN CLASS: We wrapped up the Telling Time section of Theme 3. Students sat down and discussed their classes and what TIME they have those classes in the foreign language. We also discussed AM vs. PM and two different ways to express it (adding "in the morning," "in the afternoon," and "at night" VS. using the 24-hour clock). We did a fun review game by playing Time Bingo.

IN CLASS: We reviewed TELLING TIME. Students did a warm-up and corrected their HW, practicing how to TELL TIME in French/Spanish. Also, we did a challenging listening comprehension activity in which students created a schedule by listening to a paragraph and filling in classes and times, and opinions of those classes. They then created their own schedule in such a way in French/Spanish to do a partner activity in class tomorrow.

List, and participated in a fun activity with a partner in which they read times and their partner used a fake clock to create that time.
