Thursday 3/26

HOMEWORK: Spanish = Write 5 complex sentences in which you say how you FEEL when you are in certain places. Here are two examples:

"Cuando yo estoy en mi casa, yo estoy contento."
"Cuando yo estoy en la escuela, yo estoy triste."

HOMEWORK: French = None.

IN CLASS: In Spanish, we wrapped up discussing O/U ---> UE Stem-Changing Verbs. We began working with the verb ESTAR, which means "to be" just like SER. It is used more often for conditions people may feel temporarily, like being sick or mad... we'll discuss it more in depth tomorrow, and how it is different from SER.

In French, we again focused on the verb AVOIR, and how it is used in many ways in French like we use "to be" - such as hungry, thirsty, cold, hot, tired, etc. We played "Survivor" and watched a crazy AVOIR video.

Tuesday 3/24

Today we reviewed several concepts in Theme 7: invitations and responses (both classes), TENER + Expressions and Reflexive Verbs (Spanish), POUVOIR and using "ON" (French).

We took the Theme 7.a QUIZ today - MAKE-UPS on Thursday morning at 8:15am!!!

After the quiz (in French), we introduced the irregular verb AVOIR ("to have") and lots of expressions using this verb. In Spanish, we intended to introduce O/U -> UE Stem Changers but ran out of time. See both powerpoints below!

HOMEWORK: Spanish  = none (cancelled due to lack of time); French = Translate the 8 sentences at the bottom of the back of your Theme 7 Vocab. List ("Holy Grail" ).

If you were not here, it would help to download them (below), view show, and see if you are able to complete the sentences correctly using the notes from yesterday's powerpoint.
